In October, 1987, a group of adjusters and appraisers in the coastal counties of Horry and Georgetown met to discuss the need to form its own chapter.  A formal request was made by the Coastal Claims people at the SCCA seminar in April, 1988.  At its fall meeting in Columbia, the South Carolina Claims Association (SCCA) added an article to its by-laws.  The overwhelming vote in favor of accepting the Coastal Claims Association made this the full-fledged Association, fifth chapter of the statewide organization.

This financially sound association continues to serve its members and insurance community with educational programs.   The Coastal Claims Association is known as professional and friendly.
