History

The Claims Management Association of South Carolina officially came into being at a Fripp Island meeting on May 2, 1969.  The membership consist of claim managers or supervisors.  There were thirty-five charter members.

Purpose of the organization is to bring together by association, communication and organization, those full-time employees of Insurance Companies and Self Insurers, Independent and Company-owned Adjusting Companies who have claim management or supervisory responsibility for all or part of South Carolina.  The Claims Management Association strives to better serve the insured public through continuing education and exchange of ideas between the management representation of the various companies and related matters.  A minimum of three meetings are held annually, one in the spring, fall and a joint meeting in late summer with the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys.

The Claims Management Association of South Carolina gives an annual recognition award to a South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer for an act of bravery in an outstanding performance over and beyond his or her call of duty.  The CMA awards annual scholarship money to a deserving college student and select a Claim Manager of the Year from within its membership.
